ABOUT VAN METER:
Jennifer Van Meter's 'Papaw' constantly had traditional country music blaring. She cut her teeth on songs like Jeannie C. Riley's "Harper Valley PTA", and Ernest Tubb's "Walking the Floor Over You", as well as tunes from Merle Haggard, George Jones, and Johnny Cash.
The guitar playing came almost natural to her once her uncle introduced her to a Stratocaster by putting one in her hands and showing her a 'G' chord. Freshman year of college at East Tennessee State University as a student of the Bluegrass, Country, and Old-time Music Program, Jennifer was educated by some of the best bluegrass pickers in the world, and worked at a local record store that introduced her to the likes of Dishwalla and Kasey Chambers who have become two of her greatest influences.
Since bringing all of that knowledge back north, Jennifer has recorded her debut album at Mill Creek Studio.
